The Horse Trap Ride
We
took a horse trap ride one day,
my
love and I,
Over
the rolling Irish roads,
Beneath
an Irish sky,
Along
the rock walled fens where bluebells tolled
With
silent tongues, while in the wild and windswept sky
The
gray
clouds rolled, and rolled, and rolled.
And
many wonders did unfold.
Before
my true love's eyes that day,
A
herd of seals, blue orchids rare,
A
new born calf upon the hay.
And
should it be ten thousand days
Before
my weary bones shall rest,
That
day upon the Irish roads
With
my sweet love was far the best.
